LinkedIn Search Export
LinkedIn Search Export is one of the fundamental Phantoms at PhantomBuster and a great start to your lead generation journey. Find potential customers, and make LinkedIn your database as you build your list of leads from a simple search query. Leverage the LinkedIn Search Export Phantom to export LinkedIn search results to use as a basis for enriching your leads, creating lead lists, pushing to your CRM, or downloading as a CSV file or .json file.
How do I export leads from LinkedIn?
The first thing you want to do is to go to LinkedIn and make a search for the leads you want to find and export. For example, if you’re a marketing agency and want to target CMOs in a specific type of company, make an as exact search as possible on LinkedIn by using their powerful search filters so that your final lead list contains the type of LinkedIn profiles you want to find. The better and more exact search you make on LinkedIn, the fewer resources you use with PhantomBuster to come up with a high-quality lead list.
Take note:
If you’re using a LinkedIn Sales Navigator account or a LinkedIn Recruiter lite account, you can use this Phantom instead for your Sales Navigator leads.
Now that you have a well-defined search on LinkedIn, we can use the magic of automation through PhantomBuster to extract data from the LinkedIn search page to PhantomBuster.
If you have installed the PhantomBuster Chrome Extension, connecting PhantomBuster to your LinkedIn account is a breeze.
If you want to see a step-by-step guide on how to export LinkedIn searches with PhantomBuster, you can read the LinkedIn Search Export Phantom tutorial.
Advanced setup - The Phantom opens in a simplified two-step set up which can perform a People search only. If you wish to export Posts, Jobs, Products, Groups, or another type of LinkedIn search, click on Switch to advanced setup at the bottom left of the set up modal
What data do I get with this Phantom?
With the LinkedIn Search Export Phantom, you get all the data that’s available on the LinkedIn Search page. As you can see in the screenshot below, you will find full names, job titles, profile URLs, and mutual connections, for example.

You will not get email addresses or contact information from the Search Export, however, we will show you how to get this information at a later stage! Don’t worry, we have email finder tools to help you go all the way with your lead outreach.
Build and manage Lead lists
Now that you’ve run your Search Export Phantom, you’ll find the results on the LinkedIn Leads page. Here you see all the data that has been exported, and you can begin the next stage of your lead generation journey. On the LinkedIn leads page, you can:
Clean your data if there are any results you wish to remove before starting the outreach
Enrich your data to find emails and more details about your leads
Take action and export to a CRM or create an outreach campaign
Let’s look into how to build lead lists as the next step of your lead generation journey.
Step 1: Clean your leads
On the LinkedIn Leads page, you will see all the leads you’ve gathered with PhantomBuster. The leads page has a lot of great functionalities. You can create filters to filter out specific leads, for example by using the “Processed by Phantom” filter to find only the leads processed by your most recent Search Export Phantom. Go through the list and Exclude or Delete leads that you do not want to keep in the list. If your LinkedIn Search wasn’t clear enough, you may have a few leads that you do not want to proceed with in your list.
The LinkedIn Leads page automatically removes any duplicates in your database.
Step 2: Enrich the data you’ve gathered
Once you have a clean list of your leads, you can use the LinkedIn Profile Scraper to enrich the leads data further and find the contact information of your leads.
Try out the LinkedIn Profile Scraper Phantom.
The LinkedIn Profile Scraper Phantom will enrich your leads list with information from the LinkedIn Profile page of your leads. With the LinkedIn Profile Scraper Phantom, you will get detailed information about past and current company names, job titles, descriptions, and contact information such as email addresses along with many other data points. Phone numbers can only be found if the person has added a public phone number on their LinkedIn profile.
Take note:
The best results come steadily over time, rather than through spamming. Because we care about the safety of your account, we strongly suggest using this Phantom at a moderate rate. To scrape safely and efficiently, we recommend processing a maximum of 1000 search results per day with this Phantom (or 2500 if you have a Sales Navigator account), spread out across several launches within working hours.
Export your data to a CRM or as a CSV file
Once you have a clean and enriched lead list, you can download your data as a CSV file. You can import your list of leads to Excel or Google Sheets if you wish to work more on your raw data, or you can upload them to a CRM or another outreach tool you may be using.
You can also export your leads directly to a CRM through PhantomBuster without the need to download the data as a CSV file. Just use one of the CRM Phantoms we have, such as:
You can also export your leads to Lemlist to create a Lemlist outreach campaign with the LinkedIn Profiles to Lemlist Campaign Phantom.
Create an outreach campaign
You don’t need to use other automation tools to create a great outreach campaign though. PhantomBuster's own automations excel at both data scraping as well as outreach. Use your lead lists as input in any of the following Phantoms to create an outreach campaign with PhantomBuster:
LinkedIn Outreach Phantom for a full campaign experience with connection requests, messages, and follow-up messages
LinkedIn Auto Connect for sending connection requests and growing your number of LinkedIn Connections
LinkedIn Message Sender to send messages to your new connections
Other ways to use LinkedIn Search Export
LinkedIn searches do not only relate to people, but you can also export different types of data points. For example, you can use the LinkedIn Search Export Phantom to:
Find job opportunities: Export the results of a job search to gather potential opportunities in one place. Use the "Watcher mode" to extract new results that appear every day to stay on top of fresh offers.
Monitor brand mentions: At PhantomBuster, we use the post search feature to monitor mentions of our own company or those of our competitors.
Export other users' connections: Extracting leads from a LinkedIn search can be multi-faceted - export the connections of your own LinkedIn contacts in order to grow your own network with people closer to home by clicking on their connections list and using the resulting URL with this Phantom.
Extract courses, events, and services: Use this Phantom to elevate your B2B lead generation outsourcing - it will extract LinkedIn courses, events, and services for a list of leads in unlikely places.
Save execution time with exact LinkedIn Searches
When you export LinkedIn profiles from a search, you get what you’ve searched for. If your LinkedIn Search is inaccurate and includes a lot of irrelevant leads, so will your search results. You’ll need to spend time cleaning up LinkedIn Profiles that don’t match your ideal customer profile. We’ve put together a guide for how to run a LinkedIn advanced search if you want to go deeper. But below is a brief summary of what to consider:
Maximize precision with the use of filters: LinkedIn allows filtering by location, industry, company size, language proficiency, and many more filters for more relevant results. Example: Tech professionals in New York using 'Industry' and 'Location' filters.
Use the "Title" field to qualify prospects: Effective for identifying and qualifying prospects by searching specific job titles (e.g., "HR Manager"). Combined with other filters (like 'Industry') this enhances precision.
Optimize keywords to enhance your search: Be thoughtful of the keywords you enter in your search to ensure that you’re getting the most relevant results.
Use Boolean operators: Supports operators like AND, OR, NOT for complex searches (e.g., "marketing AND digital AND social media NOT public relations").
Use brackets for precise searches: for combining multiple terms or phrases in a precise manner. E.g., “CMO” AND (Social Media OR Marketing).
Using quotation marks for exact phrase searches: essential for searching specific job titles or skill sets (e.g., "social media marketing") to find exact phrase matches.
Bonus tip: Save searches! There’s an option to save refined searches and receive notifications for new matching profiles.
Follow these guidelines to ensure that you get relevant leads when you export LinkedIn search results.
How to export more than 1,000 results from a LinkedIn search
Whatever the size of your search results list, LinkedIn will only display a maximum of 1000 results. To get more, we recommend dividing up your searches using filters or varying the search terms you use.
For example, let's say you're searching for a US Head of Growth and get 1500 results. To be able to extract them all, split up your search as follows:
Search 1: Filter the initial search to retrieve Heads of Growth in California → 600 results.
Search 2: Filter the search to exclude Heads of Growth in California → 900 results (1500 - 600 = 900).
Every result from your LinkedIn search is exported into Lead lists, and can be downloaded as a CSV file to use in Excel or other spreadsheet software.
Note: Find potential customers on autopilot! PhantomBuster is an automation tool that export data in the background while you’re free to do other tasks. You can close your PhantomBuster tab and the Phantom will still export LinkedIn search results for you in the background.
